Huge images are a major culprit for slowing down your site.

As you know speed is really important – not only for your customer’s experience but also for search engine optimization.

You don’t want to lose people because they have to load three 5 MB images in their browser first before they get to hear how amazing you are right?

This short video shows you my workflow for maintaining large, beautiful images, but getting them to load quickly in WordPress.

The steps are:

  1. Resize in Photoshop or another image based on your requirements using an editor like https://pixlr.com/.
  2. Check your image resolution. 72 dpi is still the way to go for the web.
  3. Use the handy “export for web” option in Photoshop.
  4. Use a tool like ImageOptim to further reduce file size
